A depleting agent typically utilized in the dyeing procedure is generally a type of salt. During the dyeing process, the fabric is submerged in water, which results in negative charges forming on the surface of the fabric, known as Zeta potential. Anionic dyes, which produce negative charges, are predominantly employed in dyeing (for instance: Reactive dyes, Direct dyes, Acid dyes), and they must be repelled. For the dye molecules to adhere to the fabric surface, attraction is necessary. A commonly used exhausting agent is NaCl. When dissolved in water, it draws in the chemical components. The positive sodium ions deposited on the fabric create a positive charge, allowing the fabric to attract the dye as it is applied. The presence of salt in a dye bath enables the dye to fully penetrate the fabric, resulting in a more uniform and simplified dyeing process. Two varieties of industrial salt, known as Vacuum and rock salt, are available for textile dyeing. Both types contain a high concentration of sodium chloride and come in different grain sizes. The purer the salt used, the better the dyeing results will be. Typically, vacuum salt is favored in the textile industry due to its high purity level. Rock salt can also be employed for dyeing due to its substantial sodium chloride content.
